Proximity Badges - Access Control System

The proximity badge don't need to be swiped (as for the magnetic badges) but it just need to be brought within a certain distance of the reading antenna. The reading distance changes depending on the technology used and can be either a few centimeters with the passive badges or a few meters with the active ones.
The main advantage, anyway, is the zeroing of the wearing effect caused by the swiping. Wearing both badge and reading head.

As previously said there are two types of proximity badge:

  • active badges, which incorporate a battery that allows to increase the range
  • passive badges, which are feed by the antenna range and then don't run down with time
Another typical proximity badges classification concerns the working frequency.
